WANTED: your memories of Bournemouth Pier
OUR PIER is based on stories and memories on Bournemouth's iconic pier structure. Throughout 2007 and 2008 the White Lantern Film team interviewed over 300 people and searched through archives before capturing the pier’s heritage on an educational DVD for future generations.The project brings to life Bournemouth Pier, conserving its heritage to inspire and educate future generations. The local community worked with film makers to shape the story of the Pier; interviews reveal emotional ties, an epic heritage covering two world wars and how the Pier is as important today as when it was first built, both economically and socially. Using people's memories and experiences OUR PIER is a living archive of the Pier's heritage, telling unique stories from the heart of the community and from visitors from around the world.
