The theatre has always been a major part of the pier since it was built in the 60’s. It has been a successful tourist attraction for punters which is why we are renovating it to make it more desirable to the younger generations. We’ve had all kinds of shows here. Comedy revues, pantomime, Shakespeare it’s as rich and varied as the piers history. NARRATOR: Over the years there have been over (3000?) productions attracting names such as Lionel Blair, Su Pollard and Danny Larue. The theatre and cafe were to remain in place for the renovations throughout the 60’s and 70’s as it became clear that although the main structure from 1878 had held out strong, the structures from 1948-1952 would not.
