The Lost Treasure of Bournemouth Pier

During Bournemouth Pier renovations in the 70’s, divers who were assisting the workers with laying the foundations for the pier unearthed a unique treasure. On the seafloor under layers of sand, they discovered a collection of old coins which they had never seen before. Unable to identify them, they carefully placed the coins in a matchbox and took them to the Russell-Cotes museum. Upon further inspection from an expert, the coins were deemed an incredibly valuable find and were told to keep them safe. Excited, the workers ran back to the pier to show their colleagues this extraordinary find, however, without realising they opened the matchbox upside-down and the coins fell from safety and through the gaps in the boardwalk, plunging straight back into the sea never to be seen again.
