Young People

The project teamed up with V-Bournemouth to deliver a unique opportunity for young people to learn about the heritage of the Pier through media. Over 15 young people aged between 16 and 25 took part in this unique project gaining new life skills, creative and technical knowledge. The project was separated into four sections:

Research

Throughout October and November 2007 we arranged a series of research events that were held in a variety of locations in Bournemouth. The aim of these events was to raise the profile of the project, generate interest from members of the public and to gather research material in the form of stories and memories about Bournemouth Pier. At each event there was a small team to film and record people's memories and production assistants helping with the filming and promotion of the event.

V-Bournemouth Event

Building on the research events, the team coordinated, promoted and managed a research event which targeting the over 65's. At the event the OUR PIER team coached the young people to manage the event and operate the camera.

Script Development

Throughout December'07 and January'08 the young people helped to develop a draft script working alongside award winning writers.

Production

The fun part happened in June and July as the team helped produce the OUR PIER DVD.
